Dec 22, 1972: 10 Days Lost in the Andes, 14 Passengers Were Found Alive


Santiago - On this day, 1972 is the day awaited by 14 airline passengers who survived when the iron bird crashed in the Andes, Argentina.

They successfully found safe after 10 weeks of waiting for reinforcements that never came. Therefore, two people among the victims agreed to go look for perabadaban order to contact the medical team. They also 'down the mountain' via a route no less monstrous.

Survivors live on wafer chocolate, candy, snacks and light that they find in the cabin. For water, they melt snow.

Ron Harley, an electrical engineering student, managed to turn on the radio transitor.

"After trying to tamper with the equipment available, our colleague Ron managed to turn on the radio. However, we really hit, on the 8th day loss of our aircraft, they did not give up and search for survivors continues," revealed Canessa again.

He said that they see a lot of search aircraft flying over it. The survivors were trying to attract attention. However, thick snow covered the wreckage made them could not be seen.

Their story is used as a book titled 'Alive!' written by Piers Paul Read. Then, the big screen in 1993, starring Ethan Hawke.

The 14 survivors of the crash commemorate their 30 years in 2002 to visit the locations where they managed to live.
